Latest Update: UPSC modified the number highlighting the total vacancies, and added 150 vacancies in the IRMS category. CSE 2022 will now be conducted for a total of 1011 vacancies.
On 2nd February UPSC released the 2022 edition of the UPSC CSE. In the notification, it is highlighted that a total of 861 vacancies will be filled this year.
However, owing to the number of students that apply annually to compete in the UPSC exams, which nears almost a million, the success percentage in the IAS exams is approx 0.2 %. That is a stringent figure indeed, but you shouldn’t worry.
That’s because a lot of the people that apply in the UPSC CSE recruitment process don’t really show up on the day of the exam. Let me give you an example. In the year 2018, out of the million-plus candidates that had applied for the recruitment process, only about half of them actually showed up to take the prelims exams.
